The "Atrim" I-Beam training sword - designed by celebrated swordsmith Angus Trim, made by Valiant Armoury. A blunt training longsword with a deeply fullered blade made from hand forged 1060 high carbon spring steel. The edges are 3/16" thick near the guard, tapering to 3/32" near the tip. Intended for blade on blade sparring, it is extremely quick and flexible while maintaining a thick solid edge to withstand contact. The I-Beam provides the balance and feel of a sharpened long sword while training. Out of the box the edges are a bit too squared off for my tastes, but a bit of work with some light files and emery cloth round the edges up rather nicely. The tip is well rounded. Cord-wraped leather grip. Pommel dismounts with a standard Allen wrench for maintenance. The more I handle this sword the more I like it - it's fast becoming one of my favorite blunt longswords.Recommended for Western Martial Artists and stage combatants alike! (note to fight directors: lighter sword = less grouchy actors; and the rounded tip will help keep them from getting blood on the costumes.)
