Sport style rather than historic, but these 16 gauge steel mitten gauntlets with integral suede gloves have an interesting feature: a strap that locks them closed for no-fumble weapons retention. The concept is historic - and they were considered to give fighters an unfar advantage, and many tournaments (such as King Henry VIII versus Francis I at the Field of the Cloth Of Gold in 1520) specifically disallowed their use. Very few modern tournaments and fight groups ban them, however - and for those that require lanyards for weapons retention, you've got the system built right in. "Drop your weapon!"
